Hi Reader! One of the things I’m currently trying to ruthlessly eliminate is the questions that I’ve answered hundreds of times. You probably get them too: the questions that make you think, "Why am I still answering this?" To help me do this, I've been keeping a running list of questions. And if I get the same question more than three times, I create a mini-system to handle it. This might be a policy for how to deal with those situations. It might be an email script that I have on the ready to insert. Or it might be a tweak to my contract or onboarding process. At first I was surprised by some of the questions that I answer repeatedly, but then I realized that the last time I updated some of these systems, my business was FAR different. And I reminded myself that as my business or I change, that also means my systems need to shift with me. I encourage you to start a similar list, because I bet you’ll find one or two on there that surprise you. If you only have 20 minutes this week, the task above is the most important thing to do. But if you have a little more time, keep reading. Chat soon,
P.S. I'm hosting my first CreativeMornings FieldTrip! I'll be talking about identifying and eliminating hidden friction in your workflow. If that sounds interesting, you can sign up here. |
