Hi Reader! A few weeks ago, I was staring at my HUGE blog post content audit database. It has more than ten years' worth of the artist’s J.D. blog posts. I had put off updating it since the first of July, because the quarterly update is a big job. As I was staring at the spreadsheet, trying to figure out if there was a way to streamline it, a different thought came to my head,
“You are updating this because Asana tells you to, not because you gain useful data from it.”
And it’s true. It doesn’t matter to me that a post from 5 years ago still gets good search traffic. My voice, perspective, and how I want to serve you have evolved. And so while those older posts are helpful, I’m not going to use the data on that spreadsheet to come up with new content. So rather than putting on an audiobook and slogging through data entry, I took the recurring deadline off the Asana task, closed the spreadsheet, and went for a walk. And that’s my challenge today for you too: delete one document, checklist, template, or recurring task that no longer serves your current business. If you only have 20 minutes this week, the task above is the most important thing to do. But if you have a little more time, keep reading. Chat soon,
